POSITION: Commercial Art -- Communication Design Instructor

SALARY: $44,359 – 74,050 annual base (171-day contract)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full-time instructional position to instruct courses in Communication Design.
Course load may include: Advertising, Photoshop, After Effects, Digital Photography, Drawing and/or Illustration, Portfolio and/or Capstone, and Design Production. This position will be in the Business, Design and Information Technology Division of the college. Responsibilities will also include recruiting and interviewing prospective students, advising current students, developing and delivering curriculum, job placement for graduates, and maintaining an ongoing relationship with industry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Education Requirement
Associate degree in commercial art or graphic arts.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a commercial artist or a graphic artist
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred:
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching design courses at the introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Professional experience in Motion Design and additional areas such as Illustration, Data Visualization/Information Design, Creative Direction, Brand Identity Design, or User Experience (UI/UX).
Demonstrated expertise in all industry standard graphic design software: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects
Experience with print production methods, digital fabrication, and related production technologies.
Demonstrated service and/or membership within the larger design community and/or public.
