About Camphill Village Minnesota: Since 1980, Camphill Village Minnesota has provided residential and day activity services for adults with developmental disabilities in an inclusive intentional community. There are currently about 40 people including live-in caregivers and their families living together in family style homes with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Everyone works together on our 525 biodynamic acres to grow organic produce, care for farm animals, preserve and prepare food, create artisan crafts, and keep each other healthy and our homes clean and beautiful. The Administrative Assistant will be working in the main office, helping to ensure excellent support for individuals receiving services. Duties include but are not limited to computer work, maintaining files and records, bookkeeping, answering phones, mailings, and assisting the Administrator.  

Contributions and Responsibilities include: 

  • Help prepare information for Board Directors 

  • Miscellaneous typing for the Administrator and other staff at Camphill Village such as letters to the Board, parents, and staff

  • Order office supplies 

  • Field incoming phone calls in the administrative office

  • Help coordinate the IT and computer needs and work with IT consultant 

  • Maintain and distribute internal and external mail and information 

  • Note taking at annual meetings and other meetings as needed.  

  • Keep track of the state service agreements and enter billing

  • Tracking incoming checks such as donations, payments, etc. 

  • Accounts Payable processing

  • General Office support to all other staff. 


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a level that meets the performance requirements; or must be able to communicate in the language spoken by the individual served at a level that meets the performance requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Able to work with teams and initiate good communication with all Camphill members.  

  • Ability to maintain good employee relations and morale.

  • Willingness to take initiative and adapt to circumstances.

  • Ability to accept and incorporate new methods into existing practices.


Education and Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate's degree in Business Administration/Accounting or related field preferred.

  • At least one year of clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping or office experience

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office

  • High degree of attention to detail

  • Data entry experience

  • Working knowledge of general office equipment

  • Experience with people who have disabilities or intentional community welcomed to apply


Salary, Benefits and Schedule: We are offering the salary range of $19 - 20 per hour based on experience.  This position will be a 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:3 pm.  The position also has benefits which include a health benefit contribution, retirement contribution, and vacation.
